Why Fundraise for NB Lung?

At NB Lung, our mission is clear: to lead lung health initiatives, prevent lung disease, and help those living with lung health conditions by accessing essential equipment, support resources, and direct financial support. For over 80 years, we have been dedicated to helping New Brunswickers breathe easier through our support of policy advocacy, education, and community programs.

We are very proud of our use of funds for charitable programs and direct patient support. Our financial reports can be found on the CRA’s Charity Registry.  

Did you know?

  • Lung disease is the third leading cause of death in Canada, and it’s on the rise.
  • Over 55,000 New Brunswickers suffer from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).
  • New Brunswick has some of the highest smoking rates and radon levels in the country.

By hosting your own fundraiser, you can help us tackle these challenges and work towards a future where all people are free of lung disease.

 

Steps to Launch Your DIY Fundraiser

1. Pick Your Idea Get creative! Whether it’s a BBQ, a charity run, or a bake sale, the possibilities are endless. Here are some ideas to spark your imagination:

    • BBQ or Bake Sale
    • Car Wash or Garage Sale
    • Benefit Dinner or Comedy Night
    • Raffle or Auction
    • Run/Walk/Ride Event

2. Plan Your Event

    • Set a Goal: What do you hope to achieve? A clear fundraising target will motivate you and your supporters.
    • Build Your Team: Recruit friends, family, or colleagues to help out.
    • Choose a Date: Pick a time that works best for your audience and check for any potential conflicts with other local events.
    • Create a Budget: Plan your expenses to ensure that most of the funds raised go directly to NB LUNG.

3. Promote Your Fundraiser

    • Social Media: Share your event on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
    • Flyers and Posters: Design eye-catching materials and distribute them around your community.
    • Word of Mouth: Tell people about your event and encourage them to spread the word.

4. Host Your Event

    • Execute Your Plan: Make sure your team is prepared and everything is in place.
    • Collect Donations: Keep track of all contributions and thank your donors.

5. Wrap Up

    • Send Us the Funds: Submit the proceeds to NB LUNG within 30 days of your event.
    • Acknowledge Your Supporters: Send thank-you notes to everyone who helped make your event a success.
