Sleep apnea support

Did You Know?

An increasing number of New Brunswickers are being diagnosed with sleep apnea and require breathing machines (CPAPs) to relieve their symptoms.

What is sleep apnea?

In simple terms, throughout the night you breathe quietly, you snore, you have a pause in your breathing, you gasp for a breath and then you start breathing again. Most people have dozens or hundreds of sleep apnea events a night that results in the same number of interruptions of sleep and oxygen intake.

Sleep Apnea is a serious illness.

Untreated sleep apnea can cause serious health problems, including:

  • Excessive sleepiness during the day / Falling asleep while driving
  • Decreased intellectual functioning
  • Memory loss
  • Depression
  • Hypertension (high blood pressure)
  • Heart problems that can lead to heart attacks and strokes.

We are aware of the need of more machines in our province and we care about the health of those living with sleep apnea. For this reason, we are collecting and re-distributing as many donated CPAP machines as we can. We want to ensure that New Brunswickers are getting the quality sleep they need to stay healthy.

To help New Brunswickers with sleep apnea, we are asking that you consider donating your used CPAP:

To make your equipment donation (Under 5 years old and NOT a Respironics or Philips product) please contact our program coordinator:

  • Chantal Babineau-Clark at 506-455-8961 Ext. 107
  • Email: chantal.babineau-clark@nblung.ca

If you need support to obtain a CPAP machine for yourself through Social Assistance, please see:

If denied by Social Assistance, you are welcome to apply to our program:

  • Contact: Chantal Babineau-Clark at 506-455-8961 Ext. 107
  • Email: chantal.babineau-clark@nblung.ca

We would like to express our gratitude to the kind folks at Sleep Therapeutics, who have generously donated fourteen CPAP machines to NB Lung’s Sleep Apnea Support Program! This program puts CPAP machines into the hands of New Brunswickers who cannot afford this life-changing piece of respiratory equipment. Thank you, Sleep Therapeutics!

NB Lung has been helping New Brunswickers breathe easier since 1933.
Thank you for your support!
