History

NB Lung serves communities across New Brunswick.

“Asthma can be extremely scary but we’re in great hands here in New Brunswick thanks to NB Lung. With proper guidance, asthma can be managed.”

— Tara Delaney, Faces of Lung Disease

Cheers to 90 years!

Part of New Brunswick’s History

The New Brunswick Lung Association was established in January 1933 under the name of the “New Brunswick Tuberculosis Association Limited” to help New Brunswickers manage the threat of tuberculosis on lung health.

As an independently incorporated member of the federation of the Canadian Lung Association and a registered charity, we worked locally to provide programing and policy advocacy at the provincial level.

As we addressed the challenges of tuberculosis, our focus shifted to incorporate a broad range of threats on lung health.

Our work today remains grounded in lung health, addressing challenges from smoking and vaping, communicable and hereditary lung disease including cancer, indoor and outdoor air quality and pollution, and climate change.

NB Lung is a registered charity (No. 107 769 044 RR0001) and is no longer associated with the Canadian Lung Association.

Our work is based on 4 main pillars

Patient Support

Public education for illness prevention and management

Support for Research

Advocating for stronger public policies

#BreakStigma

“It’s a tight rope we walk post-transplant. A carefully scheduled life of chaos. “

Stigma about lung diseases can cause patients to delay talking to their health professional, which can delay diagnosis and treatment. NB Lung thanks these New Brunswickers for sharing their experiences with us.
