Last year, NB Lung distributed nearly 9,000 COVID-19 test kits and thousands of KN95 respirator masks to vulnerable New Brunswickers living with lung disease. What began as a small in-house initiative quickly expanded beyond our capacity and so we partnered with the Fredericton Public Library to help distribute the kits and masks.

Each “package” included 10 rapid-test kits and 20 masks, and information about COVID-19, how to help prevent the spread of the virus, and what to do if you contracted it.

Shelley Petit, chairperson for the New Brunswick Coalition for Persons with Disabilities had these kind words to say about the program:

“When you’re immunocompromised and you have disabilities… catching COVID is so dangerous. We’re recycling masks because we can’t afford it otherwise. This is going to be a huge benefit for our members. It’s going to save people from ending up back at the ER. NB Lung’s program is saving people’s lives”.
